WHAT YOU’ll find in the app

Local writer Lori Brack and Cultural Resources Director Erika Nelson spent the winter months compiling words and images, historic and new, to create the guide, with one super-special component: an audio tour utilizing Dinsmoor's own words, as ready by Lindsborg KS artist Mike Hartung. Hear the streetside sculpture tour as you go through the grounds in person, or, before then, take a listen, browse through the never before seen images, and read through a first-ever Timeline of Site Stewards beforehand to get a feel for Dinsmoor’s view of his own Garden of Eden.

The cell phone app makes Dinsmoor’s outdoor sculpture and architectural project available for 24/7 on-site or off-site visits through photographs, audio, and video. The app also invites users to learn about Dinsmoor’s politics, religion, and innovative construction. Content in the guide includes exclusive historical and artistic research by Lucas writer and artist O.D. Hoopes, who wrote and illustrated a book about the Garden of Eden in 1972. All audio is transcribed for hard of hearing guests and those who prefer to read.

The new digital guide features:

  • Articles about the Life and Art of S.P. Dinsmoor

  • Explanations of Dinsmoor’s Art and Politics, in his own words

  • A narrated audio tour, voiced by artist Mike Hartung

  • A timeline of site stewards throughout the Garden of Eden’s 100-year history

  • An interactive map of the grounds

  • Multilingual capabilities available through Google Translate

  • Enhanced accessibility for guests:

    • Screen reader support, zoom, font size adjustment, transcripts, subtitles, alt-text, and more

    • Verbal description and audio tour recordings

In addition to our own guide, you’ll find hundreds of cultural institutions to explore. Designed for mobile device usage, the Bloomberg Connects app can serve as a guide while planning future travels, exploring the cultural landscape from home, or on-site for deeper storytelling.
